If you’re in Hawaii, lucky you! Makeup artist Bravon Pascua is making two guest appearances with the Bare Escentuals team at Sephora stores (get the deets here!). If you can’t make it, but still want to get pretty, Bravon’s got a few tricks you’ll love.
B&THB: Give us your best 3 makeup tips: Bravon: “First, here’s a trick with Bare Escentuals’ Bare Minerals: Apply a light layer, and then give it 5 to 10 minutes to melt into your skin. Because Bare Minerals is made to sink in and become a second skin, less is always more. You’ll really be surprised at how little you need.
Second, pre-conceal before you dust on Bare Minerals. This is the opposite of what so many women do, but you get a more natural finish if you pre-conceal your trouble spots (nose, eyes, blemishes), and then swirl on your foundation.
Third, here’s a holiday trick: Take black mascara, dip the wand into Bare Escentuals Extreme Glimmers, then apply. The mascara really holds the glitter to your lashes, and you get this really glamorous look.”
B&TB: Love that holiday tip! What’s another? Bravon: “To create a foil eyelid look, first start with the Ruby Collection. It already comes with the brushes, glimmer shadow, and mascara you’ll need for this. So, first take the angled eyeliner brush and dip it into the mascara. Then dip the brush into the glimmer, and line your eyes. The mascara mixes with the glimmer to give you a wet-liner look that won’t budge, and yet still has this great, chunky-glitter look.”
B&TB: What’s the most common beauty mistake you see? Bravon: “Not blending foundation properly. There should never be that demarcation line between the jaw and the face. That’s actually why I started using Bare Minerals. It just melts into skin, so it’s completely natural.”
B&TB: For a fast but pulled together look, what do you recommend? Bravon: “Moisturizer! It’s a must. Then, Bare Minerals. If nothing else, wear it for the SPF factor. Then a swipe of mascara always looks polished, even if you just don’t have time for anything else.”
