Paul Yacomine is a London-based hairstylist with a glamorous client list of celebrities and models; he is also the creator of a hair-care line that specializes in the high-tech delivery of beneficial ingredients. A trio of hair perfumes was recently added to the product list: called Parfum de Coiffeur, it promises to treat hair gently while adding shine and fragrance with natural oils.
The Parfum de Coiffeur packaging is coolly attractive: its three metal spray bottles, each holding a different scent, look like they should contain top-secret serums or vaccines, and the set is presented in a Mission Impossible-worthy canister of silvery metal and clear plastic. When removed from their niches, the sprays dispense their fragrances — Bergamot, Frangipani, or Amber — smoothly and evenly…

It’s been rumored for some time that Sofia Coppola would be directing a new spot for Miss Dior Chérie, starring model Maryna Linchuk. I don’t know if this is it or not — I’ve never seen this ad before, but that doesn’t mean much — please comment if you know. It doesn’t really look like Maryna Linchuk to me. Whatever it is, I like it much better than the earlier ad starring Riley Keough.
The music is Where Is My Love by Cat Power.

Imagine that you’re standing at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. Behind you is an acre planted thickly with pink roses. It’s the end of an August day, and the sun is setting in tones of apricot fading to purple as it bleeds into the sky. Now add a full orchestra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing The Beatles’ “All You Need is Love”. What you get is grand, passionate, lush, and faintly cartoonish. In other words, you get Guerlain Nahéma.
Jean-Paul Guerlain created Nahéma in 1979. The Guerlain website gives it a top note of hyacinth; a heart of ylang ylang, rose, and peach; and a base of vanilla, tonka bean, and wood. Osmoz builds on this description and gives Nahéma top notes of bergamot, mandarin, and rose; a heart of rose, peach, cyclamen, and lily; and a base of vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver, and benzoin. The simplest description of Nahéma would be rose…

Roadster is Cartier’s first men’s fragrance launch in 10 8 years (Déclaration Must de Cartier Pour Homme was released in 2000) and Cartier hopes Roadster will attract a younger male consumer to the brand’s fragrances (apparently, Cartier men’s colognes are sold mostly to men over 45 years of age).* The Roadster fragrance is named after a Cartier watch (you guessed it — the Roadster; see below) and is contained inside a bottle whose cap design was inspired by the watch’s crown. Roadster is a perfume with a vague “automotive” connection (see the tire rim-like rings on the bottle’s collar?) Philippe Nazaret, assistant vice president of Cartier’s North American fragrance division calls Roadster “a gemstone” referring to the “transparency and luminosity” of Roadster’s bottle — “a bottle designed to stand on its side to suggest motion.”* Pardon me if I’m a little confused.
One thing I do understand: Cartier Roadster is minty. Perfumer Mathilde Laurent built a fragrance around mint — accented with bergamot, vetiver, labdanum, patchouli, Cashmere wood and vanilla. Even though I like every listed fragrance note in Roadster, minty colognes are problematic…
