Paul Yacomine is a London-based hairstylist with a glamorous client list of celebrities and models; he is also the creator of a hair-care line that specializes in the high-tech delivery of beneficial ingredients. A trio of hair perfumes was recently added to the product list: called Parfum de Coiffeur, it promises to treat hair gently while adding shine and fragrance with natural oils.
The Parfum de Coiffeur packaging is coolly attractive: its three metal spray bottles, each holding a different scent, look like they should contain top-secret serums or vaccines, and the set is presented in a Mission Impossible-worthy canister of silvery metal and clear plastic. When removed from their niches, the sprays dispense their fragrances — Bergamot, Frangipani, or Amber — smoothly and evenly…

It’s been rumored for some time that Sofia Coppola would be directing a new spot for Miss Dior Chérie, starring model Maryna Linchuk. I don’t know if this is it or not — I’ve never seen this ad before, but that doesn’t mean much — please comment if you know. It doesn’t really look like Maryna Linchuk to me. Whatever it is, I like it much better than the earlier ad starring Riley Keough.
The music is Where Is My Love by Cat Power.

The other morning, as I was pulling out of my driveway, I happened to notice the charming scene of my neighbor across the street watering some tall green plants in her backyard with a great big watering can. I can’t be sure, but from a distance they looked like large leafy tomato plants. I was reminded of my own adventures in trying to grow tomatoes; one year I had cherry tomatoes which gave me plenty of fruit but none of it very good, and so the next year I tried the larger kind, which proceeded to overwhelm my garden with their large stalk-y bases and profuse green leaves. They also attracted some extremely odd looking (and rather large) caterpillars who took shelter in the dark shade provided by the plants, and which gave me a queasy feeling whenever I tried to pick a tomato. Whatever the reason, once again, the fruit was mealy and the skin too tough, and so this year I decided that perhaps my climate is not the best for tomatoes and to forego them altogether.
Unexpectedly, the joy of lush ripe tomatoes found another way of appearing, in the form of Roger & Gallet’s Cherry Tomato Bath & Shower Gel. I picked up this little body wash on sale early in the summer…

The SoHo outpost of La Perla, the Italian luxury lingerie company, couldn’t be more different from the raucous Victoria’s Secret located just two blocks away on Broadway. Its space is sunny and airy, decorated in shades of cream and white, and it feels private despite the large windows facing onto the cobble-stoned street. Sophisticated confections of satin and lace are meticulously displayed on the walls and in glass-topped cases; their price tags, as well as their delicate construction, may take your breath away.
Happily, the sales staff is also welcoming to visitors who are interested more in trying the store’s line of fragrances than in purchasing a very costly brassiere…
