SHOW: Julie Haus
MAKEUP: Dwight O’Neal for theBalm
HAIR: Oscar Blandi
MODEL: Ismini for Q
BEAUTY BOTTOM-LINE: The imperfect runway lip and textured hair with an edge
THE LOOK: This of a model rushing to her next go-see in a cab, trying her best to fashion a flawless face in five minutes flat, while the wind is blowing and the brakes are pumping. It may not look perfect, but there’s beauty in the imperfection. That’s the approach both hair and makeup took for the Julie Haus show today—and the execution was on point! theBalm’s big hit was their stained, just-kissed light-red lip, which they created layering a lipstick over a stain with most of the concentration in the middle and smudging outward for there. “It’s taking a fabulous runway look into the everyday,” say Dwight O’Neal. “You’re going to notice the top of the lashes and the lips right away.”
Oscar’s hair styling was much the same—many different textures tousled together for a natural, sexy look. By curling top chunks haphazardly, braiding and unbraiding small pieces of hair (hello, crimps!) and leaving the natural wave in the bottom sections, he achieved a random mess of sexy waves. “Be sure not to curl the ends,” says Oscar, “so that it doesn’t look like you just got your hair done.”
Now, I wonder if I can score a look this good in the cab on my way to the next show…
